Write what’s in your heart

Challenge yourself. Write what’s not on radio and make it yours. Take the time to explore and give people something that is undeniably you. There are many views on how to write a song, and how long it takes to write a song. We challenge the oft-thought rules and do what we believe works best for Artists and for finding their song.

It starts with the seed of a song.

Based on a real story

We write songs that Artists are proud to stand in the light of. Songs that pull the audience into an undeniable moment. Songs that capture the ears and the hearts of listeners and that need but a single light for the Artist to shine.

Ways to Work with Us

Songwriting & Production

From the first word to the last note played, we focus on putting you and your best self forward.

Co-writing has a magic to it. The synergy of being immersed in who you are - floating in the space of a song - fuelling your head and your heart - of being enveloped in creating and feeding your soul.

We have a relaxed and empathetic approach to songwriting that enables us to find an Artist’s heart and voice. We get to know you, and only then do we write a song. A song that is yours to step into the world with. A song to ignite you AND your audience.

Once we’re good with where a song has landed, we meet with the project Producer where we set the production wheels in motion to arrive at a fully mastered track in final ready-to-upload formats.

songwriting & production can include:

  • An initial meeting to see if we’re a good fit and talk about your expectations
  • Discussions around concepts, themes, messages
  • In-the-room writing sessions
  • Pre-recording prep with discussions about production/instrumentation/vibe and outlining the emotive journey of the song
  • Recording studio sessions with the songwriter(s) present and access to vetted musicians as needed
  • Approval milestones throughout the project

"I had the privilege of working with Ben years ago and immediately knew he was something special—kind, creative, and deeply collaborative. He later introduced me to Rosanne, believing we’d be a perfect match, and he was absolutely right. From our first session, she challenged me to write lyrics first, shifting my process and helping me grow. Rosanne didn’t just help me write songs—she helped me discover my voice and refine my artistic identity.

What sets Ben and Rosanne apart is their commitment to truly understanding the artist. They lead with heart, humility, and intuition, creating a space of trust and joy. Every artist deserves a “That First Song” experience. I’m endlessly grateful."

How We Work

step one / the inquiry

Fill out our inquiry form with a few samples of your work and a bit more about you–the more info, the better! This is so we can better understand who you are and what you're looking for. We want to make sure we’re a good fit for you, and you for us.

STEP two / Learning about you

Next, we'll have a chat, We need to feel fully confident that we are able to fully support who you are and what it is you are looking to achieve with your music. Our first conversation is an important step in accessing that.

STEP three / that first conversation

A crucial part of how we create with Artists is through learning about and understanding who the Artist is. This is an important part of our relationship building and is instrumental to successful collaboration, as these conversations lead us to the right sentiment, lyrics, attributes, and to the right path for the Artists we work with.

STEP four / writing & production

Here’s where the rubber hits the road as we head into the room to talk about what’s on your mind and to start writing a song. Once we’ve found, finessed and fined-tuned the lyrics and the melody - all the pieces, we’ll explore production where our top-tier producers will provide informed, intuitive, original production solutions through to final recorded, mixed and mastered tracks.

What if I’m already an established Artist or Songwriter?

We work with Artists who are at all stages of their careers, including experienced, professional Artists who are interested in exploring their artistry from a different perspective and in collaborating with our songwriters and or producers. In those instances, That First Song is more suitably a reference to the Artist’s ‘first song’ specifically with our team. Many professional Artists have already established production and marketing teams and we are always open for collaboration.

What if I don’t play an instrument?

We’ve worked with quite a few Artists who do not play instruments and their projects were not hindered by this.

NEXT

What if I don’t have a recorded track to share with you?

We really just want to get a sense of who you are and what your musical ability is. Even a phone recording of you singing and /or playing works for us.

PREV

How do you choose a Songwriter / Producer for me?

During our first meeting we will discuss what your expectations are including the overall genre direction you’re aspiring to head towards. Based on that we will make our recommendations for who best fit that criteria.

PREV

NEXT

What does this cost? And what is the payment process?

Our fees will be discussed with you once we have received and reviewed the information requested from you. Our payment structure is typically ⅓ of fee to commence; ⅓ of fee due upon completion of the songwriting before production commences; with the final ⅓ due upon completion of production before mastering.

We normally have 2-3 sessions to write and finesse a song before it heads into production. This usually takes approximately 3-4 weeks, depending on scheduling.

How long does it take to write a song?

NEXT

PREV

While this ranges depending on the details of the project, typically the production/recording/mixing and mastering timeline is about 8 - 12 weeks.

How long does it take to produce and get ready a song to release?

NEXT

PREV

We will discuss this with you before and during the project. We may also suggest that you speak with / work with one of our Management / Strategy consultants who can offer steps forward specifically targeted to your project, genre, song, budget, circumstance, etc.

What do I do with the song once it’s finished?

Generally, you can expect full setups to be completed within 4 weeks of onboarding and workflow builds to be completed within 2 weeks. Specifically for full setups, if you complete your questionnaires on time, your build will be completed within 1-2 weeks of submitting your Implementation Questionnaire. If you do not complete your questionnaires on time, your due date may be affected, and additional fees may apply.

How long do the setups typically take?

For sure! This is why they’ve created the Framework Build. You get all of their knowledge of client experience and Dubsado (plus the skeleton build of it all within your account), and all you need to do is design your forms however you like, input how you want to communicate into the blank canned emails they’ve created and update your workflows! You get the best of both worlds, full control over your content and visuals, but with the bonus of strategic Dubsado workflows, built for your business.

I’m pretty particular about my business and visuals, will this work for me?

During the Project Planning Call, they’ll talk in-depth about which Dubsado features they’ll be using for your custom build. At offboarding, they’ll show you every step of each of the workflows they’ve set up and how they work. This call will be recorded so you can return to it as needed. They will also provide you with a detailed Next Steps Guide and Workflow Overview guide. They highly recommend you complete Dubsado’s own Education to understand the program and feel confident using it in your business.

How much Dubsado Training is provided?

Absolutely! So long as you have an idea of what you want your client experience to look like, and are ready to do the work, setting up your client systems early on in your business will only help set you up for success. During your time together, they’ll also be able uncover the routines of your process, and provide tailored recommendations for up-leveling your client journey. With your new setup, you’ll be able to focus more on your client work, and growing your business, able to take on more work, and fine-tune your processes as you go.

I’m a new business–is this recommended for me?

You have a clear vision of your business goals and where you want you and your busy to go. You’re also busy enough that you really don’t have the time to take this on yourself, and your business growth is being throttled without having streamlined systems and processes in place.

How do I know if I’m ready to start work with you?

You will need a Dubsado subscription before you get started. It’s free for your first three clients (which is great for when you’re starting your setup and getting used to the system!), and then it’s $35/month. They’re all about discounts, so you can use our code TAYLORMONROE for 30% off your first month or year (we recommend a year for the biggest savings!).

They also recommend you have an idea of your Process for your client experience, your Branding, Copy for your emails, proposals, and questionnaires, and your Contract ready to go. This will help your implementation go as smoothly as possible (whether in your full setups or you DIY-ing it)!

What do I need to prepare before I start this project?

Generally, they expect your ClickUp setups to be completed within 2-3 weeks of your onboarding. However, this also depends on your input. If you complete your questionnaires on time and provide them with timely feedback during the review stage, your build will be completed within that timeline. If you are delayed, your timeline may be affected, and additional fees may apply.

How long do the setups typically take?

Absolutely! So long as you have an idea of what you want your project delivery process to look like and are ready to do the work, setting up your back-end systems early on in your business will only help set you up for success.

During your time together, they’ll also be able to uncover your process's routines and will provide tailored recommendations for up-leveling your client journey and internal business structure. With your new setup, you’ll be able to focus more on your client projects and growing your business - able to take on more work and fine-tune your processes as you go.

I’m a new business, is this recommended for me?

For ClickUp Builds, you'll need a ClickUp plan before you get started. An unlimited plan is required due to the number of custom fields they use to customize your build, though they highly recommend the Business Plan to be able to fully utilize all that ClickUp offers.

They also recommend you clearly understand your process and workflow for client projects that they can start from and optimize, as well as an idea of the other tasks and departments within your business. Having this knowledge ahead of your build will help them create a custom system that works for you.

What do I need to prepare before I start this project?

During the strategy call, they’ll go through all of the ClickUp features they’ll be using for your custom build, and at offboarding, they’ll show you each department space, folder, and list that they’ve set up and how they work. This call will be recorded so you can return to it as needed. They’ll also provide you with a detailed Training Guide (saved as a ClickUp Doc in your workspace) that includes written descriptions and Looms for each portion of your build.

ClickUp also has its own university mini-courses (they recommend the Introduction to ClickUp learning path!) that you can go through in order to understand the program and feel confident using it in your business.

How much ClickUp training is provided?
